Collin Ryer is a freelance creative writer from Hightstown, New Jersey. Collin has published five original short stories in issues of AHOY Comics since 2018: "Moments to Remember," "Words That Cause Feelings," "Through a Father's Eyes," "All That For a Feeling," and "Deus Ex Decapitation." Another of their short stories, "The Edge of Something," won runner-up and was published through Gemini Magazine's short story contest in 2021.
Currently Collin writes freelance guides on Dungeons And Dragons, a game that they have been playing for over a decade, for TheGamer.
Collin is a recent graduate of Ithaca College, where they studied writing and history. At Ithaca, Collin worked as a writer and story editor on the ICTV show "The Rest is History." They were the Senior Fiction Editor for Ithaca College's premiere literary magazine Stillwater, as well as the magazine's treasurer and interim secretary. They won runner-up for their short story "Tell An Adult" in the college's short story writing contest in 2021. Collin has worked on campus as a Student Leadership Consultant; through this job they produce newsletters, plan campus events, and assist with administration in the Office of Student Engagement. They also interned professionally at the Hangar Theatre during 2022.
Collin explores themes of queerness and coming-of-age in their fiction writing. They specialize in grounded short fiction. Collin also explores high fantasy and worldbuilding for their longer projects, with themes that explore the complexities of good and evil.
